Surprise Engagement Proposal in Highland Park, TX

Dallas Proposal Photography

It was New Year's Eve weekend and this is how Chris's surprise marriage proposal to Sara happened at HPUMC, Highland Park United Methodist Church. An afternoon proposal in the courtyard gardens of Highland Park's church in Dallas, TX.

Chris's mom reached out to me via email and phone and we talked about the proposal plans. I learned that Chris and Sara would watch the church service online during quarantine and this is why this location was special for both of them. They both live out of state in Boston and came home to Texas to visit family for the holidays.

Chris's family arrived at the church early and did a small setup with three canvas photos of how the couple met, where they reunited, and a current photo. They have known each other for about 8-10 years since high school.

On the day of the proposal, they had just gone to lunch. Afterward, Chris mentioned to Sara that his sister wanted to see the church. Which is how he was able to lead her there without being too suspicious. Once they arrived he started walking her down the stairs and she was looking at the photos and then at the bottom of the stairs, he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Of course, she said YES! Then we did an engagement session after the proposal and at the end, they went on a carriage ride.
